Programme Delivery

What to expect at WTC

For all validated programmes, there are two 4-5 day Residential teaching blocks per year when all WTC students from across the UK gather together twice a year, in early September and early January.

There is also a commitment to attend Hubs (depending on programme taken), except for those on the Flexi-programmes.

When do we have our Residentials?

2026-27
  1. Thursday 3rd – Monday 7th September 2026 (Nottingham)
  2. Monday 4th – Thursday 7th January 2027 (The Hayes)

Commitment for each programme:

In addition to the two Residential blocks, there are twenty Hub teaching evenings, on a Monday or Tuesday evening (depending on which Hub you are in), between 6.30 – 9.30pm, through the academic year. Flexi-GradDip students watch the recorded lectures in their own time and join every second Tuesday evening for their video tutorials.

The programmes are assessed by the submission of six essays throughout the year.

Year 1 is the same as the Graduate Diploma in Kingdom Theology, whereby in addition to the two Residential blocks, there are twenty Hub teaching evenings, on a Monday or Tuesday evening (depending on which Hub you are in), between 6.30 – 9.30pm, through the academic year.

Year 2 includes the two Residential blocks, but there are only four hub weeks. The remaining content is taught across three Mini Residentials, which span a Friday-Saturday.

The Graduate Diploma in Church Planting and Leadership is assessed by the submission of six essays throughout the year.

In addition to the two Residential blocks, the MA (with 2 or 3 year taught options) is taught on two to three Teaching Saturdays each year spread throughout each year. Teaching Saturdays are held at Hubs and students are encouraged to attend Hub but there is provision to join in remotely. The Teaching Saturdays are recorded and the recordings made available to the students on each module.

The programme is assessed by the submission of up to six assignments per year, plus a dissertation (in the third or fourth year).

Hub Teaching

One of the unique features of studying with WTC, for those on undergraduate programmes, is the experience of being a member of a Hub (which is a worshipping and learning community in your region). Hubs meet on Monday or Tuesday evenings, depending on the location, and are environments in which you can form meaningful relationships with your fellow students, have time and space to discuss the issues arising in the teaching, as well as worshipping and praying together.

In our Hubs we also facilitate an extra-curricular Personal Formation Programme (PFP) through which local experts visit a Hub to deliver a one off session that enables students to develop skills, be introduced to experts in various spheres of influence and to provide another bridge between the academic, the spiritual, and the practical.

A typical Hub evening looks like this:

  • 6.15 pm – Arrive, chat with fellow students
  • 6.30 pm – Worship and ministry time
  • 7.00 pm – Watch a recorded lecture with other students – with time for discussion throughout the session
  • 8.00 pm – Seminar with faculty to discuss the week’s teaching or a live extra-curricular session from a local practitioner
  • 9.00 pm – Time to pray together with other students, discuss and think over the evening’s teaching
  • 9.30 pm – Finish (may run to 10pm at times)

Online & Hub Resources

A rich variety of online resources are available through WTC’s virtual learning environment, MyWTC. This includes books, articles, lecture notes, recorded lectures, and other resources. In addition, WTC has a collection of eBooks available to all students and each Hub has a library of books available for students to borrow.
