Talking Heads 4: Husbands and Wives

Posted February 20, 2016October 12, 2020 Lucy PeppiattPosted in doctrine, family, New Testament, TheoMisc Blog

We could just ignore it, which I think many husbands and wives in practice, just do. It’s basically what my husband and I have done for nearly 26 years now.

Talking Heads 2: 1 Cor 11:3

Posted February 16, 2016October 19, 2020 Lucy PeppiattPosted in doctrine, New Testament, TheoMisc Blog

In the next three posts, I’m going to explore what Paul might have meant by using the term ‘kephale’ in 1 Cor 11:3 in relation to the idea of kephale as ‘cornerstone’ from Eph 5.

Talking Heads 1: Cornerstone

Posted February 10, 2016October 12, 2020 Lucy PeppiattPosted in doctrine, New Testament, TheoMisc Blog

A headstone or cornerstone, is usually of immense size and holds a whole building together. It acts as a foundation, and one upon which all the other stones will be set.

“Grounded is an extraordinarily rich anthology of essays representing women’s voices on a broad range of topics in relation to the Christian faith from an equally broad range of perspectives. . . . It is shot through with a welcome realism that is often lacking in scholarly essays. Although entirely penned by Australian women scholars, it would be a mistake to think this volume was written solely for women or for Australians. . . . I highly recommend this to scholars, students, and church people alike.” - Lucy Peppiatt
